A PAIR of sisters grappled their way to a great donation for charity.

Pamela Hewitt and sister Jane Robinson, who now lives in Lostock Hall, took part in the the first White Collar Wrestling event to raise around £300 money for the Space Centre in Preston, which offers multi-sensory facilities for people with a wide range of disabilities. They have also raised £100 for Cancer Research.

Pamela took on Rhio in a singles match before sister Jane paired up with Philip Michael in a tag-team match, against Rhio and James Finn.

And Pamela, 37, from Marsh House Lane, Darwen, said she was absolutely buzzing after wrestling in front of 500 people at Evoque nightclub in Preston.

She said: “It was amazing. This whole experience has given me confidence to try new things, it has really woken me up and we are wondering what to do next.

“I’ve loved it, it’s been a roller coaster of stress and effort, but I feel so much more resilient for the experience.

“The team have been so supportive of each other, we’ve really bonded, the Preston City Wrestling academy guys made us feel at home.

“We’ve been trained by such wonderful athletes, they deserve medals for their efforts, especially Pip “Bubblegum” Cartner and Danny Hope.

“They were so good, they got you in the right mindset and understood how to bring out the wrestler in us.”

In her match against Rhio, Pamela hit her opponent a sidewalk slam and a spear, but eventually tapped out.

But Jane had better luck and even made the winning pin after hitting James Finn with a Tornado DDT.

Pamela said: “My teenager cringed but was proud, I think, and my daughter, who is seven was beaming when I waved at her at the end. The audience were amazing, cheering on everyone.

"All the wrestlers made it really special, a wonderful experience, and shared some words of wisdom. They literally showed us the ropes.

“The announcers, film crew, pro wrestlers and owners Steven and Elizabeth Fludder, really gave us a “day in the life of” experience and it’s a forever memory.

“Life has been on hold for a while and I am looking forward to the time off, but nothing can compare with being out there and part of a team.”
