A MAN who suspected his partner of cheating on him set up a recording system before leaving the house.

Blackburn magistrates heard when he later checked the device it confirmed his suspicions which lead to a confrontation.

Anthony Hennigan, 34 of Windermere Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kelly Parker. He was fined £350 and ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 costs and £35 victim surcharge.

The court heard Miss Parker had been to a friend's house and when she returned home Hennigan confronted her and played the recording of her speaking to a male which confirmed his suspicions.

He said he was hurt and upset and just wanted to get away and pushed past her. Miss Parker fell and banged her head, suffering a cut which required stitching.

Hennigan told the court his partner had been drinking and drove home from her friend's.

"I pushed past her and it was because she was drunk she fell over," he said. "I didn't know she had any injuries until I got to my parent's house."
