A 14-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murdering a father-of-two has been released and will face no further action, police have confirmed.

The arrest came after Lee Holt, 32, was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest on the doorstep of a house in Barnard Close, Oswaldtwistle, at 8.25pm on October 25.

The teenager, who is from Oswaldtwistle, was arrested at the scene of suspicion of murder.

He was released on police bail which he was due to answer today. But a police spokesman said he was told earlier this month that he will face no further action over the fatal incident.

Matthew Moseley, 49, of Barnard Close, Oswaldtwistle, was also arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently charged. The tree surgeon appeared before Blackburn magistrates last month where he spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during the three minute hearing.

The case was sent to Preston Crown Court where Moseley appeared on November 2. A plea and trial preparation hearing has been set for January 11, with a provisional trial date of April 11.
