TRAIN enthusiasts from across East Lancashire experienced a ‘rock n rail’ show as part of a society’s annual exhibition.

The yearly event was hosted by Pendle Forest Model Railway Society at Park High School in Colne.

Children got the chance to play conductor and drive the model trains.

The ‘rock n rail’ model on show was based on artifacts discovered in a dig on a local allotment.

The model shows the ancient methods used to transport stone and cave dwellers over long distances and the society thinks it could shed light on the first appearance of railways in the area.

Another model involved with the society’s layout is, ‘Earby’, which recaptures the look of the station and the surrounding area as it was in the 1960s.

Modellers from Creil in France also hosted a workshop using a variety of different scales and gauges to interest guests.

Visitors were also able to buy a selection of train kits and detailed spare parts to add to their collections.

A spokesman for the society said: “A big thanks to everyone who helped make our 2017 exhibition such a success.

“We had a good mix of layouts and plenty of displays and demonstrations to look at.

“The traders there had lots to offer and the catering team did sterling work keeping everyone’s hunger needs met.”
