A MAN accused of conspiring to steal a quarter of a million pounds of car parts has made his first appearance at court.
Deimantas Savicus, a 29-year-old factory worker, of Parkinson Street, Burnley, is charged with conspiracy with others to steal steering wheels, dashboards and other interior car parts valued at £250,000 from Lloyds BMW dealers, Blackpool.
The offence is alleged to have taken place on August 15 last year.
The court proceedings were relayed to Savicus, who is Lithuanian, by an interpreter.
Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said the case must be heard at crown court and opposed bail for Savicus.
Defence lawyer, Cathryn Fell, told the court: "My client absolutely denies this allegation."
Savicus was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on December 13 by Blackpool magistrates.
