A GRAMMY nominated band will be performing a gig in Blackburn next week.

The Stylistics, a Philadelphia soul group that achieved chart success in the USA in the 1970s, will be performing at King George’s Hall, in Northgate, Blackburn on November 13.

The group were formed in 1968, consisting of singers Russell Thompkins Jr., Herb Murrell, Airrion Love, James Smith, and James Dunn.

During the early 1970s, the group had 12 consecutive R&B top ten hits, including ‘Stop, Look, Listen’, ‘You Are Everything’, ‘Betcha by Golly, Wow’ and ‘People Make the World Go Round’.

Cllr Damian Talbot, who is the executive member of leisure and culture, said: “I think is great news the Stylistics are playing here.

“They have a really big name over the years and its good news.

“King George’s Hall has a long history of hosting a wide range of music and genres.

“I’m sure this will be a popular event and the audience will really enjoy the performance.”

Tickets for the event will cost £32.50 for the main floor or £30.50 for the balcony.

Doors open at 7pm with the show set to start at 7.30pm.
