A RESIDENT said he is 'relieved' to see the council take action over illegal parking.
Retired police officer, Michael Bourn from Darwen said cars parking on the pavement on Bolton Road in Darwen and taking up 50 percent of the footpath combined with overgrown bushes were making it almost impossible for pedestrians to get past.
Last month Blackburn with Darwen Council had the bushes trimmed which Mr Bourne said has made the street a lot safer.
He said: "It's a lot better than it was, I had a walk down yesterday and they have cut it right back.
"At least people will be able to get down with prams and won't have to walk single file anymore.
"That's half the problem solved but something needs to be done about the parking.
"I have spoken with the police and they said they were going to look into it."
