This hardy bunch of volunteers were captured by a Lancashire Telegraph photographer putting up a boundary fence in Heald Wood, Burnley, back in 1988.
The conservation volunteers were spending time in the woods improving footpaths and cutting back some of the undergrowth.
It was hard work but judging by the smiles on their faces, it was also very worthwhile.
