STANLEY boss John Coleman wants his side to embark on another FA Cup run but is wary of the threat non-league Guiseley will pose in Yorkshire today (2pm).

The Reds make the trip over the Pennines in second spot in League Two and strong favourites to beat a side struggling in the National League.

But Coleman is well aware that form tends to go out the window come first round weekend and wants his side to use their experiences of last season to ensure they are in the hat for round two come Monday night.

The Reds reached the last 32 in 2016-17 bowing out to then Premier League side Middlesbrough, but it is the performance in the round two win at another non-league side that the Wham Stadium boss wants to harness at Nethermoor Park this weekend as his side adjust from being cup tie giantkillers to cup tie favourites.

“We had it last year with Woking and we went there and won 3-0 and acquitted ourselves really well,” said Coleman.

“We know it is going to be a difficult tie against Guiseley. I went to watch them at Boreham Wood so I know about them.

“The one thing you know is going to happen is that the players will raise their game by 30 or 40 per cent because of the adrenaline, the crowd and the TV cameras.

“The crowd will get behind them and be a lot more vociferous than they were in the Boreham Wood game and it creates an atmosphere that you can thrive on and we have to go there mindful that could happen and be prepared for it and be prepared to work hard.

“We will presume that their team will raise their game so we have to raise our game as well.”

Coleman is expected to name a strong side for tomorrow’s clash though skipper Seamus Conneely may miss out as he continues to recover from injury although the midfielder was due to train today.

The Reds boss added: “I want to win the game and the team I put out will be one I think can win the game and if we don’t then I won’t be happy.”

The match has been moved to a Sunday afternoon for television coverage and will be one of nine games to be featured in BBC’s Final Score programme.
