A Camera Club have received £2,000 as part of a community grant scheme.

Darwen Camera Club have been awarded the funding as part of the Crown Paints Community Award scheme.

The award scheme was created in order to provide financial support to local community groups, projects and teams.

The awards are run in partnership with Darwen Town Council and have invested over £55,000 back into the local community,

A spokesman from Darwen Camera Club said: "The grant will allow us to replace our ageing laptop and projector, enabling us to project our images with greater clarity and resolution, enhancing the work of our members.

"It will also make it easier for us to enter external regional and national competitions, who now expect images to be of a higher resolution than we are currently able to project.

"As a long-established community group with a history stretching back over 120 years, we are extremely grateful and proud to have been supported in this way by one of Darwen's oldest and most high-profile companies."
