AN investigation is underway after a 'deliberate' fire at a house.

The incident happened at around 1.30am in Dickinson Close in Blackburn and there were initial concerns people were still in the building.

Firefighters said the blaze was started in a wheelie bin outside the property which had led to smoke logging inside the house.

Residents were outside when crews arrived and one person was treated for suffering from smoke inhalation.

A fire service spokesman said: "We were in attendance for approximately one hour.

"The fire is being treated as deliberate and a police investigation is now underway.
