TONY Mowbray felt Rovers got the just rewards for their performance in the 3-0 win over Portsmouth at Ewood Park.

Goals from Bradley Dack, Danny Graham and Craig Conway were enough to give Rovers the victory which moves them back in to the top six.

It was just the fourth time this season that Rovers have managed more than one goal in a league match and Mowbray was pleased with the all-round display of his side.

He said: “I think it was a performance that we have been looking for, scoring some goals is good for the supporters and the players’ confidence.

“I think we got our just rewards.

“I thought we started the game really well, created chances and should have scored a few more in the first half and it had the feeling of one of those games again.

“I thought there were some really different qualities shown, we played some good football in the first half and then some battling qualities in the second half.

“We always looked like we could still score some more goals and hopefully it’s the start of a trend that we can score more than the odd goal.

“What was the difference? They came and had a go, they didn’t sit in.

“We prepared for their counter-attack threat but we saw that off and got the right result.”

Dack scored seven minutes before the break and Rovers built on that after the break with Graham netting just before the hour and Conway rounding things off in the final minute.

On the timing of Dack’s goal, his third of the season, Mowbray added: “It was ideal.

“We always look to put the opposition on the back foot and when we do score first it gives us a great chance to go on and win the match.

“The back four, while we talk about a 3-0 win, I thought they looked really strong.

“You have to give Paul Downing a special mention, he’s played four games and we’ve kept four clean sheets.

“He looks assured and composed alongside Charlie (Mulgrew) and he helps get the team up the pitch and the midfield to press.

“There were good signs, I’m still frustrated about Tuesday night and not winning a game where we had more chances than we had today but you can only deal with the next game and it was good to get the three points.”
