THE problem retractable traffic bollards in Church Street, Blackburn, have been repaired.
They broke earlier this year and since have been in and out of action allowing vehicles onto the pedestrianised area.
This week contractors completed a comprehensive refurbishment of the bollards between The Grove pub and Blackburn Market.
Cllr Phil Riley, Blackburn with Darwen council highways boss, said: “They have been repaired by specialists and should now operate reliably.”
Malcolm Marsden, owner of Whittakers Butchers in the market, said: “Good. I just hope the keep working now.”
During the times the bollards failed to work there were a number of ‘near misses’ and small accidents.
