A SECOND man has been charged in connection with the shooting of a firearm in Accrington.

Wasim Ali, 28, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life/ enabling another to do so. He is due to appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court today.

The charges relates to an incident where officers were called around midnight on June 29 to reports that a single shot from a shotgun had been fired through the window of a house on Richmond Hill Street in Accrington. No one was injured.

Police said they believe the incident is linked to a firearm discharge that took place on Richmond Road, Accrington on June 5 where a 60-year old woman inside the house sustained a minor injury from debris.

The incidents are believed to be part of an ongoing dispute between two groups in the area, police said.

DI Zoe Russo said: “Although there has never been any suggestion of a threat to the wider public, we appreciate that these incidents were concerning for local residents and we would like to reassure them that our investigation is very much ongoing.

"As always, anybody with information about either incident is asked to contact us as soon as possible.”
