SEAN Dyche said speculation linking him with the Leicester City job was 'flattering', but said talk over a departure from Turf Moor was 'hypothetical'.

The Clarets chief is under consideration to replace Craig Shakespeare at the King Power Stadium after he was sacked on Tuesday.

But Dyche insisted he was focussed on taking Burnley to Manchester City on Saturday and said he was not aware of any approach from the Foxes, and was not aware of any team making an approach for his services during his time with the Clarets.

Dyche is just over a week away from marking five years in charge at Burnley, while Leicester axed Shakespeare after just 26 games in charge.

But asked about his next move, Dyche said: "It’s all hypothetical. There’s no angle other than me focusing on Burnley. Only two things can happen to a manager, you move for a good reason or people get bored with you or lose, and then you’re out.

"It’s out of my hands. It’s a show of respect that we’re doing some good."

Dyche was heavily linked with the Crystal Palace job during the summer after Sam Allardyce left Selhurst Park, and Dyche said it was always flattering to see his name linked, but insisted it was a paper story for now.

"First of all, I don’t want any manager to lose their job," he said. "It’s not the first time I’ve been linked. In a way, you’re flattered because it’s some form of recognition. But it’s a paper story.

"I'm not aware of any approach from anyone in any time here. There's nothing in my consideration other than Man City on Saturday."
