A NEWLY installed disabled riding hoist and ramp have been unveiled at a riding group.

North East Lancashire Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) recently installed the facility at their base in Clough Bottom Farm in Haslingden.

The new facility was funded by a £10,000 grant from the DHL UK Foundation independent charity, which looks to give better opportunities for disadvantaged young people.

The groups worked together to install the equipment which will help physically disabled children onto a horse and give them the experience of riding.

Jody O’Brien from North East Lancashire RDA said: “We really appreciate the foundation’s massive contribution, it’s going to make a fantastic difference to many people. Getting on a horse will be easy now.”

Dave Skinner, from Oswaldtwistle, got involved with the project for the DHL.

He said: “I really wanted to support the community and this is a huge benefit to them, to have this facility and be able to let the children have a chance to go horse-riding.”
