An innovative and bespoke service combining business banking advice, law and extended financial planning services under one roof has been launched by Oldham law firm Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers.

Former corporate banker David Meredith has joined the team bringing with him over 39 years’ experience in banking and business.

Pearson Solicitors and Financial Advisers are already unique in the area combining financial advisers with lawyers to offer clients a totally holistic service.  Now, with the addition of the former NatWest Commercial Director the forward thinking firm are enhancing their commercial offering.  With a portfolio of clients ranging from SME’s, family run businesses and national household names, it is hoped that Dave’s appointment will add to the continued growth and performance over the next few years.

‘Pearson are a strong team with ambitious growth plans and I’m delighted to have joined them and excited at the prospect of helping them to further develop the business,” said Dave.

“My banking background has given me extensive experience of working closely with the owners of North West based SMEs and I think there’s a great opportunity for me to help both existing and new clients by improving our understanding of their commercial needs and thereby ensuring we deliver the right advice and services at the right time”, he added.

During his banking career Dave has liaised with businesses across all sectors between £2m and £50m turnover, for the past 10 years in the role of Director of Commercial Banking at NatWest.

His invaluable experience of SMEs with a focus on helping them to build better business and help achieve their business and personal objectives will be at the heart of his work with the law firm. Similarly, his experience of change management, alternative finance solutions and business development will be an asset to the growing team of commercial lawyers and he will be able to take a step back and look at solutions as a non-lawyer.

Speaking about his appointment, Partner and Head of Pearson’s Corporate & Commercial Department, Keith Kennedy, said:

“Dave’s recent appointment enhances our innovative approach to providing practical legal solutions for our commercial clients. He will be able to draw on his vast experience to really understand our clients’ goals, challenges and priorities, which might involve gearing up for a sale, refinancing, or acquiring another business. Understanding those and other key issues will allow our team of commercial lawyers to deliver more effective, proactive advice which fits with the longer term strategy of each client.”

Dave is also involved in other local activities and interests include Governor and Treasurer at Oldham Hulme Grammar School, Trustee of Oldham Enterprise Trust and Member of the advisory board for Oldham Coliseum.
