A NEW learning tool developed by a Blackburn entrepreneur is proving a success.

Learning by Questions, a cloud-based teaching and learning tool, was developed by the founder of educational technology company, Promethean, Tony Cann.

It has been used at Accrington Academy, Alder Grange, Bowland High, The Hollins, Peel Park Primary, Ribblesdale High, Shuttleworth College, Hyndburn Academy, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Primary, Roe Lee Park.

The tool saves teachers time and increases their efficiency by highlighting which students need their help and which concepts need teaching during lessons.

Students progress at their own pace and ability through question sets and receive immediate automatic feedback as they answer, while teachers receive live analysis and results are saved to support assessment and planning.

Mr Cann said: “Learning by Questions allows teachers to move around the classroom, with total visibility of how every learner is progressing in real time, so they can intervene most effectively.”

Emma Tranter, head of maths at Ribblesdale High School, said: “Since we started using Learning by Questions there has been one boy who has really turned a corner.

“It had been a struggle to get him to lift a pencil but now he races through the questions and the positive feedback has given him the confidence to do better in other lessons too.

“It automatically marks the work so I can spend more time planning and practising maths with my pupils, making sure they really understand the concept before we move on.”
