AN MP has welcomed a lottery boost investment for community organisations after three projects together received nearly £30,000.
Initiatives in Colne, Brierfield and Nelson have benefited from the latest
Big Lottery Fund distributions.
They all run community development projects aimed at engaging young people and combating isolation through creative outlets.
Colne-based Bassment DJ Academy, which runs DJ classes for people between 12 and 24, has been awarded more than £9,000 for its ‘Music Unites the World’ project.
In-Situ, an artistic non-profit organisation based in Brierfield, has been awarded £8,929 to go towards creating a mobile radio unit and engagement programme. The funding will be used to launch a community radio station and workshops.
A further £9,980 has been awarded to Nelson St Philip’s C of E Primary School. The money will be used to develop an outdoor play area.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: “I am delighted that the excellent work of community projects and organisations across Pendle has been recognised by the Big Lottery Fund.
"The projects receiving funding will benefit a variety of people across the area and provide spaces for adults and children to engage with creative activities.”
