COUNCILLORS have teamed up with a residents association to carry out a clean up.
Hyndburn Council deputy leader Cllr Paul Cox took part in a litter pick organised around Laneside estate in Accrington.
The event was attended by many of the local residents, with more than 20 bags of rubbish collected by the volunteers.
The clean up took place to coincide with a community information event held at the Hyndburn Homes Community centre in Ribblesdale Avenue.
Cllr Cox said: “It was clear that certain parts of the estate had ended up with deposits of waste and I wanted to put and give the area a good clean.
“It’s important to work with local partners, like Hyndburn Homes, to get the most done.
“But I also believe it’s just as important to get out yourself by rolling up your sleeves and getting your hand dirty too.”
The councillor contacted Hyndburn Homes several months ago about organising an event to help out the residents.
