SCHOOLS across East Lancashire are being encouraged to take part in a Wellbeing Challenge aimed at helping build resilience against mental health conditions.

Launched by charity Lancashire Mind it is hoped the challenge will also enable pupils to support their friends with the aim of reducing the number of young people who may go on to develop a mental health condition.

Ribblesdale High School in Clitheroe is the first school to sign up to 10-week programme.

Stephen Cox, headteacher, said: "Ribblesdale High School is proud to be a part of Lancashire Mind's Wellbeing Challenge as we understand the importance of educating young people about looking after their mental health. "As a school community we want our pupils to have access to all the tools they need to build resilience and to leave us with the knowledge and skills needed to look after their mental wellbeing."

The challenge is supported by Positive Action in the Community, Key Unlocking Futures and Young Lancashire with Think Forward C.I.C. For more information email Rachael Ray on rachaelray@lancashiremind.org.uk.
