A RESIDENT has shared CCTV images following a car theft on Harwood street in Darwen.

The footage, which is from 2am this morning, shows a young man in a hooded jumper checking to see if their front door is unlocked.

The resident said: "It was awful looking at the footage this morning.

"I saw a young lad trying our door.

"It looks like he had something in his hand like a knife or a screwdriver.

"I have children in the house, you just worry what his intentions were.

"A couple more lads came from across the street and they managed to get into one of the houses.

"15 minutes later they came out and got in his car, they must have got the keys from his house."

The resident installed CCTV cameras on his house two years ago after a number of cars on the street were vandalised.

Police said they received a call from a Harwood street resident at around 9am this morning who said a grey Audi had been taken from their drive.

A Police spokesman said: "We can confirm we received a report of a vehicle theft this morning.

"The resident woke up this morning to find the car missing."

Anyone with any information should call 101 and quote incident reference 0305 of October 6.
