JUST messing about on the river. These happy smiling youngsters are ready to start work on an abandoned area of land close to their school and turn it into a wildlife area.
Back in 1998 they were pupils at Barrowford County Primary School and enthusiastically looking forward to some hard work with their spades and nets.
From the left are Ben Brady, Christian Ramsden, Christopher Hilton, Laura Hartley, Kirsty Tillotson, Katie Sharp and Christopher Balmforth.
They were helped in their project by members of the local community, keen to bring frogs and toads to the water and see insect and butterflies attracted to the wild grasses and flowers.
They were also hoping that a variety of birds, rabbits and hedgehogs would make their home in the wildlife field, to be created from wasteland.
