BENCHES in the entranced to Darwen six-day-market have been refurbished.

Market maintenance workers have varnished and replaced the backs on both benches.

One of the well used benches was originally removed to

make room for a new bus ticket machine.

But after complaints from bus users, it was reshaped to fit around the new machine.

Cllr Phil Riley said: "We were approached by bus users who wanted to know why one of the benches had been removed.

"They are very well used as they allow bus users to sit inside but still see when their bus is coming.

"The guys in the market have gone over and above and done a really nice job.

"We have been able to return the benches that were much loved and provided a modern ticket machine so people can upgrade their bus tickets before they get on."
