A FAST food restaurant in Accrington has closed its door for an almost month-long refurbishment.

The McDonald’s restaurant at the Viaduct retail park closed on Friday and is not set to reopen until Tuesday, October 3.

The chain confirmed the restaurant is closed as it is set to receive a ‘major digital makeover’.

Local franchisee David Duncan, who owns and operates six restaurants in Blackburn and Lancashire, will be funding the work.

Self-order kiosks will be added, along with table service, as staff aim to make improvements to the speed and ease of ordering.

They also said changes will help parents with young children.

Mr Duncan said: “These changes are designed to make our customers’ experience as positive as possible.

“Whether that’s providing people with a chance to get to grips with using a tablet in a relaxed environment, or providing parents with a quick and easy way of ordering their food.”

Staff say the changes have been designed with changing customer needs in mind.

While work takes place metal safety fences have been put up around the restaurant.

The nearest alternative branch is in Rising Bridge.
