A TEENAGER remains in a critical condition after the car he was driving crashed into a lamppost.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following the incident which happened in Longsight Road, Langho, at around 10.15pm on Sunday.

Police said the 17-year-old boy, who has not been named, was driving a Ford Fiesta when it crashed into the lamppost.

He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remained last night. Nobody else was in the car at the time of the incident.

At least one motorist stopped to help the teenager until emergency services arrived.

Sgt Dave Hurst said officers are continuing to investigate what happened in the moments leading up to the crash. He said: “We are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a serious collision in Langho.

“The driver has been left in a critical condition in hospital and we want to establish exactly what happened.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the Ford before the collision, to contact us.”

The road was closed for close to four hours while the teenagers was treated by paramedics and investigation work was carried out.
