A SPECIAL event to celebrate older people in the community will take place later this month.

Age UK Lancashire, with the support of Rossendale Borough Council, are hosting a special event to celebrate older people and the fantastic services on offer locally.

The event will bring together a variety of organisations that have information on services and support available to people aged 50 and over in the Rossendale area.

The information available will be focused around wellbeing and include information about energy saving, winter health, activities and support.

The event will be held at Longholme Methodist Church, Bacup Road, Rawtenstall on September 27 from 11am.

David Ward from Age UK Lancashire said: "We received some funding to host an information event in the Rossendale area, so we have decided to take it a bit further and turn it into a celebration day which includes a free buffet and tea dance.

"We are hoping that lots of local people will come along and join us and also take part in the tea dance, which is hosted by the Back Step Boogie Club’.

The event starts at 11am with lunch at 12pm and the tea dance starting at 1pm.

Visitors can also enjoy free refreshments and buffet. There is no need to book tickets, simply turn up on the day.
