HABERGHAM Eaves Parish Council has supported the call for more action to be taken to slow traffic down after a crash in Burnley.

A man was airlifted to hospital after being cut out of a car after it collided with a van in Glen View Road on Friday.

The road was closed for more than two hours while fire crews removed the cars from the road.

Eyewitness Martyn Bell, a Glen View Road resident, said there has been a series of crashes on the road in the past decade

A parish council spokesman said: "The parish council has campaigned for many years for traffic calming measures and have worked with Lancashire County Council's highways department to try and find a solution.

"Several years ago, the parish council financed a speed indicator device for the road in a bid to make drivers aware of their speed.

"We also have worked with highways to ensure that the appropriate road markings are in place for drivers trying to get onto Glen View Road from neighbouring estates.

"The parish council is the first port of call for concerned residents and we would invite anyone who wishes to discuss this or any other matter to contact us."
