ALMOST 4,500 people have signed a petition set up by a 21-year-old man with a mystery illness to to improve conditions across the country for people with disabilities.
Zach Kerr, from Accrington, is campaigning to get accessible changing room facilities installed at all UK motorway service stations.
After setting up an online petition earlier this month it already has more than 4,375 signatures of support.
The student at Beaumont College in Lancaster was rushed to hospital as an 11-month old baby with a rash and after tests his condition was found to have worsened and he suffered brain damage and was left unable to move his arms and legs.
He has dealt with the condition his entire life, and he is now looking to improve facilities for other wheelchair users.
The 21-year-old, from Howard Close, said: "At the moment there are very few such facilities on UK motorway routes and my parents often have to resort to changing me in a cramped and often dirty toilet floor or baby changing room."
Mr Kerr wrote to Hyndburn MP Graham Jones about the petition and he has supported his calls.
