A COMMUNITY group in Rishton has called for more people to support them after a disappointing turnout to its latest event.

Switch On Rishton had 12 pitches, a bouncy castle and a car boot sale at the methodist church car park in Albert Street last week.

The group hold events to raise money to hold Christmas lights and markets in the town.

Chair of the group Nick Hayword is calling for the community to support them following the event.

He said on Facebook: "We posted 1,000 flyers to houses across Rishton.

"It's disappointing to have little interest shown.

"If people don't want Christmas trees let us know and Rishton will return to be dull and glum again simply because no one else will provide the festive feeling."

The group are also holding a fundraising tombola at the Co-op in Harwood Road today from 9am until noon.
