RESIDENTS are being encouraged to take part in a summer clear out to raise money for a cancer appeal.

A 10kg bag of unwanted clothes, shoes and handbags taken to Cash 4 Clothing in Clayton-le-Moors, is worth £4 in cash, which, on request, the store will add to an appeal collection box it has.

This is after local residents Bob and Trudy Tuffnell, approached the manager and asked her to help Rosemere Cancer Foundation for its 20th anniversary.

Mrs Tuffnell was treated for breast cancer at a Rosemere Cancer Centre seven years ago.

Store manager Vanessa Ratcliffe said: “It doesn’t matter whether it’s a small or large bag of items. When it’s brought in, we go through it, weigh it and then give the customer a receipt with its value.

Cash 4 Clothing is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.
