MARCUS Antonsson hopes to show that he has adapted to life in English football during his loan spell with Rovers.

Antonsson scored three goals in 21 appearances for Leeds United during his debut year in the EFL after a £2million move from Swedish football last summer.

However, he was allowed to leave Elland Road after falling out of favour under new boss Thomas Christiansen.

And the 26-year-old hopes to show just what he has learned during his time in England at Rovers.

“I’ve been here a year and feel that I have adapted well to the football and I’m ready to go now,” he said.

“It’s a little bit more intense, maybe a little bit more time on the ball back in Sweden.

“It’s a really good league there and getting better and better in Sweden, but to play in England is what you want, it’s been my dream since I was a little boy.

“It always takes a little bit of time to adapt.

“It’s a difference, it’s not exactly the same style of football.

“I feel that I have my strengths where defenders have their weaknesses, I’m good at running in behind.

“But you need to time to get used to the boys in the team and sometimes you need time or sometime you can just get lucky and perform from the first week.

“Now I’m here I’m looking forward to scoring goals for Blackburn Rovers.”

Antonsson joined Rovers last Friday, and although eligible, wasn’t included in the matchday squad for the visit of Doncaster last Saturday.

He wasn’t a part of any of Leeds’ two matchday squads before being allowed to leave, but is expected to be part of the Rovers squad at Bradford City on his return to West Yorkshire.

Of leaving Leeds, where he has two years left on his current deal, he added: “It was a new manager so I was well prepared, I worked hard in the holiday to come back in a good shape.

“I had a good pre-season and when you have a new manager you never know what is going to happen. I was trying to be a part of the squad, but then they signed a couple of players and it was decided that I wasn’t part of the plans. But now I’m here I’m really looking forward to this.”
