BURNLEY have had a bid rejected for Leeds United striker Chris Wood, according to reports in Yorkshire.

The Clarets offer of £12million plus add-ons has been turned down by the Whites.

Burnley are in the market for striking reinforcements after seeing Andre Gray make an £18million move to Watford earlier this week.

But they will have to up their offer for the 25-year-old New Zealand international if they are to tempt Leeds to sell.

The two clubs have already done business this summer with Burnley signing left-back Charlie Taylor at the end of his Elland Road contract. Leeds were due compensation with Taylor aged 23 and the two clubs eventually agreed on a deal of an initial £4.8million, which could rise to £7million with add-ons.

Wood was top scorer in the Championship last season, plundering 27 league goals in 44 games and he has attracted the interest of Premier League clubs this summer.

He has two years remaining on his Elland Road deal.
