A PUBLIC consultation into the future of Hameldon Community College in Burnley will begin on September 11.
Lancashire County Council’s cabinet has agreed to look at the Coal Clough Lane school’s future, including its possible closure.
The secondary school has suffered from declining pupil numbers, financial difficulty and falling standards.
Cllr Susie Charles, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said they had been ‘concerned about the situation for a while’.
The consultation will run until October 20. Visit www.lancashire.gov.uk/schoolorganisationreviews.
