A RESIDENT says building 36 houses on a site in a Ribble Valley town is only likely to increase the risk of flooding in the area.
An application was submitted last month by Merseyside-based developer Prospect GB Ltd proposes to build 36 houses, which will be a mixture of two, three and four-bedroomed homes, on land off Union Street, Low Moor, Clitheroe.
In its design and access statement on behalf of Prospect GB Ltd, agent GL Hearn said there is a ‘significant’ need for high quality affordable houses with a shortage of 264 affordable homes per year in the area.
Sharon Sharp, who lives near the site for the proposed development on Meadow View, Clitheroe said: “I am not the only resident on Meadow View or the surrounding area with concerns over this development and several of us have been in contact with the council and our local councillors.
"We have actually raised the height of our garden to try to reduce the risk of water entering our property which has helped slightly."
