GOOD Foxy will showcase a clutch of new songs at their own festival – Foxyfest – in Clitheroe on Saturday.

The smash hit festival was organised by musicians who were due to take to the stage at last year’s Summer Days jamboree until organisers pulled the plug days before the event, featuring Simply Red and Echo and the Bunnymen, was set to go ahead at Clitheroe Castle.

However, Foxyfest proved such a success the band have decided to let the music play on and 15 other local bands and artists will be joining the headliners on stage at St Michael and St John’s Social Centre in the heart of Clitheroe.

Good Foxy manager and festival spokesman Duncan Sykora said: “It is a really good line-up, and with a bigger bill this year we’ve decided to put up an outdoor acoustic stage as well.

“If it rains then we’ll just move it inside.”

Duncan added: “Last year we had 300 music fans through the door and we got so much positive feedback, everybody wanted us to do it again.

“Obviously, it was a last minute thing in 2016 after Summer Days cancelled, but we had so much help from people everywhere.

“For example, Jon Greaves, from Blackburn’s Lite Alternative, who provide the lights for Coldplay and Kings of Leon, came down with a lighting rig for free and that was incredible.

“Hopefully, we can make Foxyfest an annual event now.”

Other bands already confirmed to play on the indoor electric stage include Palace Motion from Clitheroe, Bolton act Sittin’ Pretty, who recently supported Gun, local girl Indigo Rose, Blackburn outfit Anhedonia, Northern Sports Club and the Clitheroe Pop Choir.

On the outdoor acoustic stage, Chris Hinnigan, Dylan Cassin, Jack Anwyl, Ben Kirton, Tucker and Baird (Ruby Tuesdays), Over the Hills, Mark Duckworth, Kitty Riley plus special guests are all scheduled to play.

Peter Riley, frontman of the Swing Commanders has also been added to the line-up this week.

The event is due to run from 1pm and 1am.

An Asian street food stall, a pizza van plus other refreshments will be available at Foxyfest and the venue has a licensed bar.

It has proved another big year for Good Foxy and following their triumphant performance at the Beat-Herder Festival last month they are heading off to play a host of festival performances nationwide during the remainder of the summer.

“The lads have just recorded a new five track EP at the studios of the GRand in Clitheroe and their latest single, Easy Money, will be taken from that,” said Duncan. “It is a super sound.

“They live and breath their music and by the end of the year they will have probably done 100 gigs. around the country.”
