A STUDENT is dreaming of superstardom after winning a place in a new girl band.
Sian Charlesworth, 20, from Crown Point, Edgworth, saw off competition from over 2,000 others to join the five-strong girl group.
The group, which has not yet been named, will be managed by Kim Glover who previously managed both 80s boyband sensations New Kids on the Block and 90s Irish girlband B*Witched.
She has also worked with Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin.
Sian, who attended Turton Media and Arts College, said: "I didn't think I'd get this far.
"A lot of people had a lot more experience, they went to dance colleges, I don't do that so I thought I was a bit out of my depth.
"I've always loved performing, drama, dancing, singing, so I've always wanted to perform as a career. It's always been a dream."
Fragrance So...? linked up with music mogul Kim Glover in May to create a supergroup, which they say will be a mix of the Spice Girls, the Pussycat Dolls, Girls Aloud and Atomic Kitten.
The group will spend six weeks living together in London being transformed into a supergroup.
An intense schedule features hours of singing and dancing rehearsals, styling and make-up sessions and lessons in how to deal with the press.
Meeting with record company bosses, photoshoots and interviews will follow and they will record a single and video which will be released in 2008.
The girls will constantly be under the spotlight as all the action is captured in magazines CosmoGIRL! and Reveal.
The girls will also be followed by a film crew for a possible television deal.
Sian read about the six auditions being held in the UK and Ireland in magazine The Stage and attended the Nottingham audition on June 23.
To prove herself worthy of joining the band Sian had to sing a song on her own and chose Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
After passing the first stage in order to get to the finals in London, which were held on Sunday, the girls had to get into groups of three and perform together.
Sian is in her last year studying Theatre and Performance at Leeds University.
She thinks she will put her last year on hold but wants to finish her course.
She heads off to London on July 20 and is taking it easy before the hard work starts.
"I'm just trying to chill out for a couple of weeks because of how intense it's going to be. I'm just trying to get my head together at the moment," she said.
The other girls in the band are Sheena Rowe, 22, from Bromsgrove; Sophie Leniston, 17, from Dublin; Rebecca Doran, 19, from Essex and Kristina Macmillan, 22, from Surrey.
