BRENTON Jones sprinted to victory at the Colne Grand Prix as his JLT Condor teammate Matt Gibson claimed the overall title at the National Circuit Series finale.

The East Lancashire victory completed a memorable hat trick for Jones who also won the previous two rounds in Stockton and Beverley.

And it was a perfect night for JLT Condor as Gibson claimed second place and a series victory.

BIKE Channel Canyon’s Harry Tanfield, the only man who could have prevented a series win for JLT Condor, came third on the night and third overall.

Jones was unsurprisingly delighted with his victory.

He said: "I am loving the series, loving the team vibe and the racing is awesome.

"We controlled the whole race, the boys are so strong and to finish it off again with a one-two was fantastic.

"We stuck together (when the break went) and knew that we had an hour racing ahead of us. We knew not to get too complacent and let it go out too far and a credit to the guys who were out there, they gave us a hard chase."

Large crowds watched the action in Colne on a dry evening in East Lancashire and a three-man break formed early as BIKE Channel Canyon's Matt Nowell, Team Wiggins' Rob Scott and Raleigh GAC's Grant Martin went clear.

The trio built a maximum advantage of 22 seconds over the JLT Condor led peloton but Nowell punctured and Martin slipped back to the bunch leaving Scott alone in front.

He continued to press on, willed on by the crowd, but he was caught four laps from the end as the race came back together for a bunch sprint which Jones won at a canter.
