TWO escaped prisoners were apprehended in Burnley this evening.
They were caught in the town near Lowerhouse.
The two men from Cumbria had absconded from Kirkham Open Prison in the afternoon and were picked up by Black Peugeot.
The vehicle was spotted by a police patrol on Accrington Road near Florence Street and stopped.
Inspector John Fryer of Burnley Police said: "One prisoner and the driver were arrested in the car.
"The second was later apprehended in Lowerhouse.
"The two men were returned to Kirkham Prison. It was good result."
