A MAN was left with a broken nose and chipped teeth after being brutally assaulted in a Burnley nightclub.

Josh Holt was out with friends when he was set up on in the Panama club’s toilets at about 4am on Sunday.

The 21-year-old said he was hit in the face and knocked to the floor before being repeatedly kicked during the random attack.

He eventually managed to get up and run out of the Hammerton Street club.

The travel agent, who lives in Burnley, said: “The only thing I remember in the toilets was being hit in the face from the side and knocked to the floor.

“The boy wasn’t provoked in any way.

“I remember the first hit and being on the ground and repeatedly being kicked in the face until I was able to get up and run out of the club.

“Unfortunately I have little memory of the incident so I couldn’t say whether it was one guy or more than one.

“Both my eyes are badly bruised and my nose is actually broken.

“I have two chipped teeth and my lips are swollen.”

Mr Holt said the incident has left him shaken.

“It took quite some time to actually come to terms with what had happened and I still can’t get my head around why it happened,” he said.

“I suppose I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“Nobody should have to look in a mirror and not see themself because of what someone else has done to their face.

“I’m pretty disgusted that this person doesn’t realise how this can affect someone not only physically, but mentally. It’s horrendous.”

Since sharing his story on Facebook, he said he has been shocked by how many people have messaged him saying it’s happened to them or somebody they know recently.

“I’ll be avoiding going out for a while until I’m comfortable with the way I feel and the way I look but eventually I will.

“I’ve always been the kind of person to do the things I enjoy in life and I won’t let this change that about me.”

Mr Holt received dozens of messages of support on Facebook after the incident.

Katie Parkinson wrote: “It is happening way too often and people that cannot hack their drink should 100 per cent stop.”

Alison Rambadt said: “Don’t let this stop you being young and having a good night out.”

A police spokesman said they were called to reports of an assault in Hammerton Street on Sunday at around 5am.

He said someone had been arrested, but was unable to provide further detail.
