PLANS to build three wind turbines up to 100 metres high near Hapton will be discussed at Burnley Council Planning committee meeting on Thursday.

If given the go-ahead, the turbines would produce enough power to supply 4,616 households.

The proposals, submitted by FAB Energy Solutions, would sit on the north and north east facing slopes of Hameldon Hill to the south side of six existing turbines.

The Ministry of Defence had previously objected to the application earlier on in the process due to interference to air traffic control at Warton airbase.

It removed its objection on conditions including the development followed the radar mitigation scheme.

Hapton Parish Council objected to the plans because of the current number of turbines near the village.

A spokesman on behalf of the applicant said a community benefit fund would be set up to provide support for community improvements.

The meeting will take place at Burnley Town Hall at 6.30pm.
