A MOTORIST who clipped wing mirrors with another car at 2pm was found to be more than three times the drink drive limit.

Sebastian Szmidt, 41, of Belfield Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 80 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 23 months.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said the female owner of the other car was parked in Tanpitts Road when the other car passed and left her wing mirror hanging off. She followed Szmidt thinking he might not have realised there had been contact. She managed to pull alongside him and indicated what had happened and Szmidt stopped.

"He tried to mend the mirror, offered to pay for the damage and asked her not to call the police," said Mr Robinson.

Gareth Price, defending, said as a direct result of the offence Szmidt had lost his job in a warehouse.
