A NEW Darwen Three-Day Market row has broken out over consultations on its potential replacement.
The town’s partnership board was briefed on plans for its replacement on Wednesday before submission of planning application for demolition of the existing building,
Now Whitehall councillor and borough Liberal Democrat leader David Foster has accused regeneration boss Phil Riley of failing to consult properly with local people.
He demanded Darwen Town Council be given the same briefing.
Cllr Riley said: “We consulted with people extensively on this last year and there will be further opportunities for local people to give their views on these outline proposals during the planning process.
“We will further steps take account of people’s views on the initial proposals through social media and more traditional means
“We have no plans to brief Darwen Town Council.”
Cllr Foster said: “I think it’s important we get the views of local people on any proposal before we go to planning stage.”
