BUSINESS leaders are looking to organise more events to ‘unite the community’ after a tribute to people affected by the Finsbury Park terrorist attack was well attended.
A vigil and minute silence was held outside Accrington Town Hall on Monday to pay tribute to victims.
The event was only organised late on in the day by Shahed Mahmood, chairman of Hyndburn Chamber of Trade.
Mr Mahmood said he hopes to organise more events in the future to give more people the chance to attend.
He said: “It was only arranged at the last minute so it was a good turnout.
“We also had a lot of people getting in contact with us saying that they wished they could have come and that they didn’t know about it.
“It was a great way for people of all religions to come together in Hyndburn and unite against recent atrocities.
“We want to get more events in place so people can come around and show their togetherness.
“We want to get more awareness days and occasions sorted.”
Around 40 people attended the event on Monday including Hyndburn MP Graham Jones and Reverend Ian Enticott, vicar of the United Benefice of Accrington St James and St Paul.
