A MAN has appeared in court accused of burgling a house and committing a separate act of shoplifting.

Magistrates heard Damien Aron Taylor, 33, of Spring Terrace, Rossendale, allegedly broke into a house in Rochdale Road, Bacup, and stole clothes, a DJ mixer, hockey stick and cash.

That offence allegedly took place on April 24.

Three days earlier it is alleged that Taylor stole £220 belonging to Frank Butterworth in Bacup.

The court heard that on May 3 Taylor stole £399 worth of alcohol from Tesco in Haslingden.

He pleaded guilty to a single count of theft in relation to that incident.

Taylor was given conditional bail not to contact directly or indirectly any prosecution witnesses, not to enter Tesco in Haslingden and not to go within 50 metres of an address in Rochdale Road, Bacup.

He must also live and sleep at his home address.

He will appear at Burnley Crown Court on June 21 to enter a plea to the burglary allegation.

Taylor must stand trial at Burnley Magistrates Court on July 19 over the theft allegation in relation to Mr Butterworth.
