WET weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm for the 150th Great Harwood Show yesterday as thousands turned out to bring town and country together.

Crowds of around 10,000 gathered at this year's annual Bank Holiday Monday event at The New Showfield despite the rain.

Main arena highlights included a performance from the Accrington Pipe Band and a daredevil display from the Stunt Monkey Motorcycle Display Team.

Show secretary Rona Westwell, who has been involved in the event for 27 years, said: "We're hoping for a turnout of around 10,000 and people are flocking in despite the wet weather.
