MORE people are expected to turn out to a cricket club’s biggest fundraiser of the year as it enters its third day.

Edgworth Cricket Club has been holding its Mini Beer and Prosecco Festival this weekend.

Hundreds of people have attended so far and even more are expected to turn out for its final day today.

The event raises money for the cricket club, who are hoping to put it towards a redevelopment of the changing rooms.

Bar manager Dan Fyans said: “We do a lot of fundraising events but this one is the biggest on the calender.

“It was a big success last year and we decided that it would be a great idea to do it again.

“We’ve got a great big deck at the cricket club and it would be a shame not to make the most of it, this is a great way to get the best out of it.

“It’s been a great success so far and it’d be good to see even more people come down for the final day.”

Mr Fyans is also part of an eight person fundraising committee which organises events throughout the year for the club.

This is the second time the event happened after last year’s festival, which raised around £3,000 for the club.

Four American craft lagers and 14 real ales have been on offer at the event.

Yesterday featured a cup cricket game between Edgworth second team and Denton cricket club, while today there is a social cricket game taking place.

Also on offer at the event is a BBQ and DJ.

The event will be taking place today from 2pm until 10pm at the Bolton Road cricket club.
