THE mother of a four-year-old boy suffering from a rare form of liver cancer has called on people to donate as he returns home from surgery.

Charlie Procter, from Church, had an operation to remove the tumours from his liver at Birmingham Children’s Hospital last Wednesday, and came home yesterday.

However he still needs surgery for tumours on his lungs, which his parents have been told he can longer have chemotherapy for as they have become resistant.

They have renewed calls for people to donate to get the youngster to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in America for specialist surgery not available in the UK.

The parents have so far raised more than £100,000 but are still short of their target which is expected to be around £300,000.

Owner of Max Taxi’s Talib Zaman has recently joined in the fundraising by having his moustache shaved and raised £680.

Charlie’s mum Amber Schofield said on Facebook: “We aren’t 100 per cent on what the next plan is.

“Charlie has been through such a traumatic 15 months, we won’t let it be all for nothing. We will get him to Cincinnati.

“Please don’t hesitate because you feel it might not be needed.”
