A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was taken by helicopter to hospital with 'serious injuries' after being hit by a car.
The incident happened at around 5pm on Saturday in Willows Lane, Accrington and the boy was taken to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
Police were called to the scene after the victim was hit by a black Vauxhall Corsa.
A spokesman said: "We were called by the ambulance to a serious injury road traffic collision.
"A 13-year-old boy suffered head injuries and he was conscious at the scene."
The road was closed for approximately an hour and a half after the incident.
A North West Ambulance spokesman said: "The victim suffered a major trauma in the incident.
"We sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, a senior clinician and the air ambulance."
