A MAN was found unconscious and suffering from head injuries near a park.

Police were called by paramedics after the man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was found in Clough Park, near Walmsgate, Barnoldswick, at 5.30am yesterday.

The area was cordoned off for several hours while crime scene investigation teams attended the scene.

A Cavendish Street resident said there were lots of police outside her house.

She said: “This is very strange because it’s not every day we get police vans and cars pulling up outside, it is normally a quiet area.

“Lots of neighbours were talking about what happened.

“I do hope the man is okay, it’s really shocking to hear he was found unconscious.

“This has never happened before, people were worried about all the police attention.”

An ambulance spokesman said the man was taken to Airedale General Hospital in Keighley.

Another resident said: “It’s not uncommon to find people walking around there at different times of the day.

“It’s a lovely cut through and you find a lot of people take their dogs there.

“It serves a lot of houses in this area and its used all the time.”

A police spokesman: “We were called by paramedics at around 5.30am. The man was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

“We are looking into how the man has come about his injuries.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
